PHILADELPHIA, PA, April 29, 2013 – Entrepreneur Ryan Buchert, a 2003 Drexel Engineering Master’s Alum and Founder of BuLogics, Inc., a Global Wireless Innovation company, has been selected as the recipient of the Drexel University Entrepreneur of the Year Award for 2013.
BuLogics, Inc., founded in 2003, was created as a response to Buchert’s eagerness to see innovation in technology become reality in product availability. In the last ten years, BuLogics has created technology with the world’s best known and biggest Fortune 500 companies. BuLogics created the technology in the world’s largest Z-Wave installation at the Wynn Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, partnering with industry leaders to create an unprecedented wireless network. Recently the company has shifted its efforts, spinning out its residential offering in Philly’s hottest new and recently funded start-up, Zonoff, focusing instead on commercial wireless automation and energy management retrofits, specifically in apartments and multi-use buildings, including Philadelphia’s dynamic urban campus, The Navy Yard.
The Entrepreneur of the Year Award is conferred upon a graduate who, through use of his Drexel education, initiative, and innovation, created a business or venture that reflects the spirit of such as a credit to Drexel. The award focuses specifically on the entrepreneur’s initiative, decision-making acumen, innovation, and risk-analysis, as well as contributions to the Drexel community, industry community, and community at large.
“Drexel’s focus on real world knowledge and problem-solving as part of the entire college experience taught me not only how to be a great engineer, but also how to apply that knowledge to other real world needs, such as writing business plans, accounting, and public speaking. Being able to apply that experience across so many disciplines gives an entrepreneur a great advantage. I’m honored to be recognized for taking that experience to heart,” stated Buchert.
Buchert will be honored at the Drexel Alumni Awards Ceremony in May during Alumni Weekend. The celebration will be held at the Paul Peck Alumni Center in Philadelphia and will be followed by a Cocktail Reception and Gala in Behrakis Grand Hall.
